The meeting was orchestrated by a fortunate encounter described in Chapter 51. Nanasaheb Panshe and Appasahib Gadre happened to see Madhavrao Deshpande at Chitali station. Knowing that their friend, Kakasaheb Dixit, was at Mirikar's house and was desperate to go to Shirdi, they urged Madhavrao to meet him. Honoring the message, Madhavrao went to Mirikar's house where Balasaheb formally introduced the two men. This was their very first meeting, and they immediately made plans to travel to Shirdi together that same night.
