After miraculously producing fire for Chandbhai's chillum in the forest, Maharaj stayed at Chandbhai's house for a few days. Later, he traveled to Shirdi with the wedding procession of Chandbhai's wife's nephew. The Introduction in Chapter 0 states that the procession halted near the Khandoba temple. It was here that Maharaj met Mhalasapati, who welcomed him as 'Sai Baba.'
