Mule Shastri, a devout Brahmin well-versed in the scriptures, initially held doubts about Sai Baba. As detailed in Chapter 12, when he visited the Masjid, he was astonished to see his own Guru, Gholap Swami, in place of Baba. Overcome with emotion, Mule embraced his Guru's feet, his pride of high caste and thoughts of ritual purity vanishing instantly. He even began singing his Guru's Aarti. However, when he opened his eyes again, Gholap Swami had disappeared, and Sai Baba was standing before him, asking for Dakshina. This divine play, or Lila, completely transformed Mule.
