Can you explain the story of Kashiram and his practice of giving Dakshina to Maharaj? What was the lesson behind their interactions?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 0

The story of Kashiram illustrates a profound spiritual lesson. Initially, Kashiram would offer his entire money bag to Maharaj, who would only take a paisa or two. Kashiram felt immense pride in his ability to give, to the point of feeling bad if Maharaj didn't accept his Dakshina. As described in Chapter 0, Maharaj recognized this pride as an obstacle to Kashiram's spiritual progress. To remove this obstacle, Maharaj orchestrated a situation where Kashiram faced financial difficulties. Maharaj then began demanding Dakshina relentlessly, forcing Kashiram to borrow until he had nothing left. This entire leela, or divine play, was designed to make Kashiram realize he did not truly have the power to give. Once he understood this, his pride vanished, and his financial situation improved.
