Sai Baba made a significant prophecy regarding his devotee, Tatya Patil. As recounted in Chapter 42, Baba appeared in a vision to a very ill Ramchandra Dada Patil and, after reassuring Ramchandra of his own recovery, foretold that Tatya would 'attain the eternal state' on Vijayadashami in the Shaka year 1840. Baba's words were considered as if 'etched in stone.' As the predicted day arrived, Tatyaba fell gravely ill and his pulse began to weaken.
