Can you explain the paradox of Sai Baba demanding more money from Kashiram as he became poorer?

📖 Chapter 0

The seemingly paradoxical actions of Sai Baba towards his devotee Kashiram are explained in Chapter 0 as a divine "Leela" intended to foster spiritual growth. Kashiram, initially wealthy, developed pride from his ability to give Dakshina to Maharaj. Recognizing this pride as a spiritual impediment, Baba engineered a situation where Kashiram faced financial hardship. It was precisely during this period of increasing poverty that Baba began a "barrage of demanding Dakshina." This forced Kashiram to confront his powerlessness, first by borrowing from a grocer and then by admitting he had nothing left. The purpose was not to take money, but to dismantle the ego and pride attached to giving. Once Kashiram understood he didn't have the power to give, the lesson was learned, and his prosperity returned.
