Can you explain the distinction between the 'good' and the 'pleasant' as detailed in Chapter 17?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 17

Chapter 17 of the Sai Satcharitra draws a sharp contrast between 'the Good,' known as Shreya, and 'the Pleasant,' known as Preya. Shreya is the path of salvation, representing pure Knowledge (Vidya) and wisdom, while Preya is the path of worldly joy, rooted in pure Ignorance (Avidya). The chapter clarifies that he whose mind is attached to Preya, craving worldly objects like wealth and status, falls away from his true purpose. Though both paths are available, Chapter 17 explains that a dull-witted person is easily conquered by Preya. The truly wise, however, are like a swan that separates milk from water, and they choose Shreya, which is the true purpose of human life (Purushartha).
