In Chapter 6 of the Sai Satcharitra, the power of the Sadguru is shown to lead devotees toward the experience of non-duality, or Advaita. The text explains that the Sadguru's touch is so powerful it can burn away the subtle body, which is identified as the ego, into ashes. This is a metaphorical description of spiritual purification. The chapter states that by placing His hand on a devotee's head, Sai Baba awakens the sense of 'Soham' or 'I am He,' which is a core non-dual realization.
