Can you explain the concept of Maya and provide the examples used in the text to illustrate it?

📖 Chapter 50

Maya is described as a powerful illusion or delusion that makes the world appear in a way that is not its true reality. Chapter 50 illustrates that even the wise can be helpless before this play of Maya. Several examples are given to clarify this concept. A rope can be mistaken for a snake in the dark, and the nacre of a shell can appear like silver. The text also mentions how the sun's rays can create the illusion of a mirage. Another vivid example is a person whirling a lit firebrand (kolit) in their hand, which creates the illusion of a solid circle of fire (Agni-kankan), even though the circle itself does not truly exist. These examples show how Maya produces a non-existent world from a real substratum.
