However, Dev failed to recognize him because his mind was clouded by delusion, or 'Maya.' Dev had previously encountered this same Sanyasi when the man was collecting funds for cow protection, so he assumed the Sanyasi was just a regular guest who came for a meal and not Baba in disguise. This prior context strengthened the veil of Maya, causing Dev to overlook the fulfillment of Baba's promise.
