Can you elaborate on the primary sacred texts read in Shirdi and the specific qualities attributed to them?

📖 Chapter 18

Chapter 18 identifies two main books central to the devotional practice in Shirdi: the Bhagavad Gita and the Bhagavat. Specifically, the texts read were Jnaneshwari, which is the commentary on the Gita also known as Bhavartha Deepika, and the eleventh Skandha of the Bhagavat, referred to as Nath Bhagawat. This latter text, containing the dialogue between Krishna and Uddhava, is described as being even better than the Krishna-Arjuna dialogue in the Bharata. The scriptures are described as divinely inspired, with the sweetness of one causing the devoted Tukaram to perform a thousand readings. Baba saw them as a means for devotees to attain God instantly through faithful reading.
