Can you elaborate on the distinction between 'Vidya' and 'Avidya' as it pertains to overcoming the fear of worldly existence?

📖 Chapter 37

Chapter 37 draws a clear and crucial distinction between Vidya and Avidya in the context of overcoming fear. Avidya, or ignorance, is defined as that which has only the pleasant ('Preyas') as its subject. It is the root cause of worldly worries because it establishes the perception of manifoldness and duality, which is the breeding ground for fear. In contrast, Vidya, or knowledge, is described as that which has the ultimate good ('Shreyas') as its subject. By acquiring Vidya from the Guru, one removes ignorance and its effects. This leads to an understanding of the science of oneness, which stops the cycle of birth and death and grants a state of complete fearlessness.
