Chapter 14 recounts the story of Ratanji, a merchant who was deeply distressed for not having a son. On the advice of Das Ganu, he resolved to visit Shirdi to seek Baba's blessings. Upon arriving, he went to the Masjid for Baba's darshan, prostrated at His feet, and with great love offered a flower garland and fruits. In his prayer, Ratanji expressed his faith that Baba protects those in great calamity. After listening, the first thing Baba said to him was, "You have come today; what Dakshina (offering) will you give Me? Then you will be fulfilled," immediately introducing the theme of offering and surrender as the path to fulfillment.
