The procession to the Chavadi began with Sai Baba's specific preparations at the Masjid. Chapter 37 explains that after Tatya placed a beautiful shawl over Him, Baba would go to a wall where firewood was kept and touch the spot with His right big toe. He would then wave His hand over a burning flame to extinguish it before setting out. As soon as Sai started to move, a grand musical fanfare would erupt. Instruments like horns, trumpets, 'Tas', 'Jhanj', mridanga, and veena would resonate, accompanied by fireworks, torches, and the joyous chanting of Baba's name by the assembled devotees.
