Bade Baba held a position of immense importance and honor in Sai Baba's court. Chapter 23 describes his seat as being on Baba's right hand. Such was his status that Sai Baba would not smoke the Chillum until Bade Baba had taken a puff, nor would He eat a single morsel of His meal until Bade Baba had eaten first. An anecdote in Chapter 23 recounts how, during a festival, Bade Baba walked away from the meal in a huff. Sai Baba refused to eat, holding up the entire feast until Bade Baba was found and brought back. Baba would even call out for him with great respect, showing the high regard in which he held his guest.
