Can you describe the process Baba uses to refine a devotee's devotion, as illustrated by the analogy of the oil-press peg?

📖 Chapter 29

Chapter 29 uses a powerful analogy to describe how Sai Baba refines a devotee's faith. Verse 123 compares the process to the peg of an oil-press, which is first shaken and then firmly fixed. In a similar manner, Sai 'refines by shaking and then purifying' the devotion in his followers. This 'shaking' manifests as difficulties and obstacles that test one's resolve and may even cause doubt. These trials are not meant to harm but are tests through which 'firm faith enters.' By enduring these periods of challenge while holding on to faith and remembering Sai, the devotee's initial, perhaps fragile, belief is purified and transformed into a deeply rooted, firm attachment to the Guru's feet, as highlighted in verses 123 and 127 of Chapter 29.
