According to Chapter 34, after arriving in Shirdi, the parents of the ailing boy immediately took Sai Baba's darshan and prostrated at his feet. With choked voices, folded hands, and pitiful faces, they narrated their child's suffering from a painful bone-cyst. They explained how they were exhausted from seeing his wretched state and that they saw no other way out. They pleaded with Sai Samarth to place his hand of protection on their son's head, remove the ailment, and grant him life, having come to seek refuge with total devotion based on hearing of Baba's greatness.
