The introductory chapter of the Satcharitra describes a miracle performed by Maharaj while he was with Chandbhai, prior to his arrival in Shirdi. After Maharaj helped Chandbhai locate his lost horse, he prepared a chillum but needed a fire. As noted in Chapter 0, there was no fire available in the forest where they were. To solve this, Maharaj simply struck his tongs on the ground, which miraculously produced a fire, allowing him to finish his task. This event demonstrated his divine power to Chandbhai.
