According to the account in Chapter 31, a group of darveshis brought a fierce, diseased, and restless tiger before Sai Baba. After getting Baba's consent, they brought the animal, held tightly by a chain, before him. Upon seeing the radiant Sai and coming near his feet, the tiger was startled and bowed its head with great reverence. It then raised its tail, struck the ground three times, and collapsed motionless at Sai's feet, dying instantly after one terrifying roar. The people who witnessed this event were struck with wonder.
