Chapter 44 recounts the immediate aftermath of Sai Baba's passing. As soon as his breath left his body, Laxman-mama performed worship, and a devotee named Jog conducted the Aarti with a lamp. Following these initial rites, a period of intense deliberation began. For the next twenty-six hours, Hindus and Muslims debated how to proceed with the final resting state and where to plan the Samadhi (tomb). This prolonged discussion was fueled by doubt among the people as to whether Baba had truly died or was in a state of deep trance, as had happened once before.
