Sai Baba's arrival in Shirdi was connected to his association with a man named Chandbhai. After staying at Chandbhai's house for a few days, a wedding was arranged for Chandbhai's wife's nephew with a girl from Shirdi. According to the account in Chapter 0, Maharaj, as he was then known, came to Shirdi as part of that wedding procession. The procession stopped in a garden near the Khandoba temple outside the village. It was upon entering this temple that he had his fateful meeting with Mhalasapati, which marked the beginning of his life in Shirdi.
