After staying at the home of a man named Chandbhai for a few days, he accompanied the wedding party of Chandbhai's wife's nephew to Shirdi. The procession stopped in a garden near the Khandoba temple, where Maharaj met Mhalasapati. It was Mhalasapati who greeted him as 'Sai Baba.'
