Sai Baba's day began very early, as described in Chapter 0. He would wake at dawn and sit by the Dhuni fire. After his morning ablutions, a gentleman named Bhagoji Shinde would attend to him, untying the bandages on his hand, massaging his body, and preparing a chillum for them to share. This was a significant part of his routine, as Bhagoji was afflicted with leprosy, yet Maharaj showed no disgust and never altered this daily interaction. Following this, other regular devotees would come to serve before Baba went to wash his face, a process noted for its gentleness.
