Boss Dharamsee's reluctance was multi-faceted, as detailed in Chapter 35. His primary issue was a dislike for grapes with seeds, but two other significant concerns created a problem for him. Firstly, his doctor had explicitly forbidden him to eat grapes without washing them first. Secondly, he was in a holy place before a saint and felt it would be improper to either reject the offered prasad or to get up and wash it himself. This created a serious internal conflict where he felt it was "difficult to eat them, but felt heavy in his mind to reject them." He even resorted to chewing them and discreetly putting the seeds in his pocket to avoid defiling the sacred space.
