Before leaving the Masjid for the Chavadi, what specific, personal rituals would Sai Baba perform?

Before departing for the Chavadi, Sai Baba followed a distinct set of personal rituals. Chapter 37 explains that after getting ready in His usual kafni, with His satka (stick) and chilim (pipe), Baba would wait for Tatya Patil to place a golden-bordered shawl on Him. He would then approach a bundle of firewood against a wall, move His right big toe at that spot for a moment, and then perform the remarkable act of personally waving His right hand over the burning flame to extinguish it. Only after completing this sequence would Sai Baba set out for the Chavadi procession.
