According to the teachings in Chapter 39, the entire visible world is the play of the indescribable Maya, which is rooted in Ignorance of one's true nature. This Ignorance gives rise to body-consciousness, duality, and the ego. When the ego, with its sense of pleasure and pain, is dissolved, the destruction of Ignorance begins. The ultimate means for liberation from Maya's hold is devotion. The text emphasizes that without devotion to the Lord, other means are futile, as even Lord Brahma is subject to Maya's power. By Guru's grace, Maya is removed, and through devotion, one is released from the cycle of rebirth and attains natural Self-knowledge.
