Sai Baba's practice of requesting Dakshina was quite unique and is described in detail in Chapter 14. He would ask for an offering from nearly everyone who came for his darshan, regardless of their religion. The unusual aspect was the scale and persistence of His requests. He would ask for amounts far beyond a token sum, demanding hundreds, thousands, or even lakhs. If a devotee said they had given all they had, Baba might instruct them to go take a loan. The text also mentions that He would sometimes command a very wealthy person to go ask for Dakshina from a poor person's house.
