Based on the teachings, what qualities and actions must a seeker cultivate to achieve the ultimate spiritual goal?

📖 Chapter 45

The path to liberation, as described in Chapter 45, requires a combination of self-reliance and specific spiritual practices. A blessed seeker is one who practices discrimination between the eternal and the transient. This involves renouncing the fruits of enjoyment in both this world and the next. The seeker must cultivate the six-fold virtues, such as calmness and self-control, and give up hope in others while maintaining strong self-confidence. The text advises that one must 'gird up his own loins,' signifying personal effort. Ultimately, by recognizing the Guru as the solid mass of Brahman-consciousness and meditating on Him, dispassion (Vairagya) is born, leading to the spiritual goal.
