Based on the story of Kaka Mahajani's friend, what does Sai Baba's teaching reveal about the intention behind giving Dakshina?

📖 Chapter 35

In Chapter 35, Sai Baba's interaction with Kaka Mahajani's skeptical friend highlights the paramount importance of intention. The friend initially came to Shirdi determined not to offer any Dakshina. Baba, being omniscient, did not ask him for any, even while requesting it from Kaka Mahajani. When the friend felt excluded and questioned this, Baba directly addressed his internal state, saying, "In your mind, there was no intent to give; Therefore, I did not ask you." This shows that Baba did not seek money for its own sake but valued the inner feeling and willingness of the devotee. Only when the friend's heart changed and he developed a genuine desire to give did Baba accept his offering, demonstrating that the act of giving Dakshina is meaningful only when it comes from a sincere heart.
