Based on the Satcharitra, what was Sai Baba's appearance and what was he doing when Chand Patil first encountered him?

Chapter 5 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra provides a clear description of Sai Baba's appearance when Chand Patil first saw him. Patil found him sitting under a mango tree. Baba was described as a Fakir wearing a cap on his head and a kafni (a long robe) on his body. He also had a short stick, known as a satka, tucked under his arm. At that very moment, the sacred text notes he was engaged in the simple act of preparing a chillum by crushing tobacco, just before he called out to Patil.
