In his early days, Maharaj lived a simple and selfless life. Chapter 0 describes him residing mostly in a dilapidated Masjid, where he would stay at night. During the day, he would go about, accepting meals if offered and providing free medicines to those in need. He even cared for the sick himself. The area was a path for pilgrims, so he encountered many holy men. Notably, he spent a lot of time with a saint named Janakidas. His profound spiritual nature was also recognized by the famous Gangagir Baba, who declared him a 'gem' upon their first meeting.
