Based on Chapter 48, can one attain spiritual knowledge without love? Compare the roles of love (prem) and faith (bhava).

📖 Chapter 48

According to the teachings in Chapter 48, love and faith are inextricably linked, and one cannot achieve true spiritual progress without both. The text states that faith is the foundation, noting, "Love does not arise without faith (Bhava); know that where there is faith, there is God." It further clarifies that "love is fully present in the womb of faith." However, faith alone is not sufficient. Chapter 48 emphasizes that knowledge without love is sterile and unsatisfying, asking, "Without love, knowledge is dry; what use is it to anyone?" It concludes that for listening and reading scriptures to be fruitful, one must possess deep, uninterrupted love, as devotion, peace, and liberation reside where love is present.
