Based on Chapter 33, what was the process for obtaining and distributing Udi, and what did it signify for devotees who were leaving Shirdi?

📖 Chapter 33

Chapter 33 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra details the process of Sai Baba's Udi distribution. Baba would purchase bundles of firewood, often from those who had a surplus, and offer these logs into the sacred Dhuni, the fire that was always kept burning before him. The ash that remained from this fire was the Udi. For devotees leaving Shirdi, receiving Udi held a special significance. The text clarifies that when devotees asked for permission to depart, the act of Baba giving them Udi was the signal that true permission had been granted. This was a well-known practice, and receiving the Udi would make the departing devotee feel enthusiastic and blessed for their journey home.
