The introduction in Chapter 0 explains that after Mhalasapati welcomed Sai Baba into the village, he introduced him to his companions, Kashiram Shimpi and Appa Jagle. These three men had a practice of serving saints and fakirs who visited the busy village of Shirdi. They all became total devotees of Maharaj.
