In Chapter 17, Baba explains the difference between the state of worldliness (*Pravrutti*) and the state of cessation (*Nivrutti*). In the state of *Pravrutti*, one perceives the world through dualities, leading to the existence of friends and enemies. However, upon attaining the state of *Nivrutti* through Self-knowledge, this perception changes dramatically. As Chapter 17 states, in *Nivrutti*, one sees only the Self everywhere. When this realization dawns, the concepts of enmity and friendship lose their meaning, as there is no "other" to be an enemy or a friend to. This supreme happiness makes worldly sorrows seem insignificant.
Baba speaks of *Pravrutti* and *Nivrutti*. How do these states affect one's perception of others, like friends and enemies?
