Amir Shakkar was forbidden from visiting the Masjid, yet his stay in the Chavadi became a great blessing. How does his story illustrate that following a Guru's difficult commands can lead to unexpected rewards?

📖 Chapter 22

The story of Amir Shakkar is a powerful example of faith and its rewards. Baba commanded him to stay in the dilapidated Chavadi for nine months and even forbade him from coming to the Masjid for darshan. As noted in Chapter 22, this seemed like a severe trial, especially given the terrible living conditions and Amir's rheumatism. However, this apparent hardship was a blessing in disguise. The Chavadi's location was such that he received Baba's vision effortlessly. Baba passed by on his morning alms round and came before the Chavadi in the evening. Most significantly, on alternate nights when Baba stayed in the Chavadi, they were separated by a mere plank door and would talk with calm minds after other devotees had left. This demonstrates that surrendering to the Guru's will, no matter how paradoxical, can lead to unique and intimate spiritual gains that would otherwise be unattainable.
