Chapter 50 describes Maya as the source of the entire illusion of name and form, a supreme and indescribable power that is very difficult to cross over. Any pulse of imagination is considered a dwelling place of Maya, and the states of bondage and liberation arise from this imagination. Liberation is achieved through knowledge, as stated by the unassailable Vedic theorem, "Only from knowledge comes liberation." However, the dawn of this liberating knowledge is impossible without the destruction of sinful karma. Therefore, one who attains pure knowledge is said to have abandoned Maya by their own resolve and is no longer subject to its bondage.
According to the texts, what is Maya, and how does one achieve liberation from it?
