Chapter 53 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra was written because the original author, Hemadpant (also known as Dabholkar), passed away before he could fulfill his promise to write a concluding summary for the book. As Chapter 53 explains, Hemadpant's death was sudden, leaving the work incomplete. The chapter was then undertaken by a successor who, after reviewing Hemadpant's extensive records provided by his son Gajanan, wrote the missing summary. This new author humbly expresses his own perceived lack of skill, praying to the Guru for the ability to complete the task and stating that Sai himself is the true author, with the writer being merely an instrument.
