According to the teachings, what is the path to achieving self-realization?

The path to self-realization involves moving from a state of worldliness (Pravrutti) to a state of cessation (Nivrutti). Chapter 17 explains that this journey is facilitated by God's grace. When God is pleased, He grants the seeker detachment and joins them with discrimination, which are the tools needed to cross the 'ocean of existence.' The text further clarifies that for one who wishes to see the Self clearly, there are primarily two locations: the Earthly world (Bhuloka) or the world of Brahman (Brahmaloka). As chapter 17 notes, the Earthly world is highly desired because it is here that the heart can become pure and the intellect clear like a mirror, allowing the Self to be truly reflected.
