According to the teachings in Chapter 17, what prompts a person to seek a path beyond worldly suffering, and what is considered the true purpose of human life?

📖 Chapter 17

Chapter 17 describes how the relentless spinning of the wheel of worldly existence, or Samsara, causes immense suffering through the three unendurable torments (Tritapa). When a person becomes exhausted by this sorrow, they begin to search for a way to stop this cycle. This fortunate turning point is when true manhood, or Purushartha, is born. The chapter emphasizes that the true purpose of human life is to actively discard the path of Preya (worldly pleasure) and honor the path of Shreya (salvation). This requires strengthening one's intellect and making a conscious choice, much like a swan taking only milk from water.
