According to the Satcharitra, what is the reason saints appear on earth, and what does it take for someone to become interested in their stories?

In Chapter 23, it is explained that the incarnations of saints on this earth happen out of benevolence, specifically for the salvation of what the text calls "dull-witted souls." This is presented as an act of grace from the Almighty. The chapter further clarifies that the desire to hear the stories of these saints and find happiness through them is not a random occurrence. This interest only arises in a person's heart when they have accumulated sufficient merit, or "Punya," from past deeds. Therefore, an inclination towards saintly tales is seen as a sign of spiritual merit.
