According to Chapter 49, what defines a true devotee, and what qualities are seen in those who are not?

📖 Chapter 49

Chapter 49 provides a clear distinction between a true devotee and one who is not. It teaches that a person who has complete pride in their body does not deserve the title of 'Devotee.' Instead, a true devotee is someone who is completely devoid of ego. The chapter criticizes those who possess the arrogance of knowledge, the pride of superiority, and who are abodes of hypocrisy. Furthermore, it describes those who do not lovingly sing the fame of their own Guru or listen to their praise as being the 'personification of dull-wittedness.' The essence of 'Devotee-hood' is presented as a state of complete egolessness and love for the Guru.
