According to Chapter 44, why were people uncertain whether Sai Baba had truly passed away or was in a state of trance?

Chapter 44 explains that after Baba's breath ceased, there was significant doubt among His devotees about whether it was a permanent death or a temporary state of Samadhi (trance). This uncertainty stemmed from a previous event that occurred 32 years prior. In that instance, Baba had seemingly drawn His life force into the crown of His head for three full days. When everyone had presumed Him to be deceased and began discussing final rites, He suddenly returned to His body, dispelling their anxiety. As Chapter 44 recounts, the memory of this past event made everyone doubtful, and they deliberated for twenty-six hours before being certain that this time His passing was final.
