According to Chapter 38 of the Sai Satcharitra, why is the act of donating food considered so important?

Chapter 38 explains that food donation, or Annadan, is the highest virtue for the current Kali age, just as penance, knowledge, and sacrifice were for previous ages. The text states that food is the very form of Para-Brahman (the Supreme Reality), from which all beings are born, by which they are sustained, and into which they ultimately merge. The chapter emphasizes that among all codes of conduct, food donation is chief, and nothing is superior to it. It is considered the merit among merits, and Baba himself followed this practice, recognizing that satisfying the hunger of any being who comes to your door is a paramount duty for a householder.
