According to Chapter 35, what was the attitude of some people who were skeptical of Sai Baba, and what happened to them when they finally visited Shirdi?

📖 Chapter 35

Chapter 35 describes how some individuals, particularly those who worshipped a formless God, harbored significant pride and skepticism. They viewed saints with form as mere humans and considered bowing or giving monetary offerings, known as Dakshina, to be a mockery of true devotion. They heard stories about Sai Baba asking for Dakshina and believed this diminished his saintliness. With a firm resolve, they decided to visit Shirdi to see for themselves but vowed not to bow at his feet or offer any money. However, as Chapter 35 explains, upon receiving Sai Baba's darshan, their firm resolve would completely dissolve. They would forget their previous intentions and surrender at his feet, remaining devoted to him thereafter.
