Chapter 34 tells the story of a degree-holding doctor from Malegaon whose nephew was suffering from a severe bone-cyst, also called Hadyavarn. As the chapter recounts, the doctor and his expert physician friends had exhausted all native and foreign treatments, including surgery, to no avail. The boy was in great pain, and his relatives were distressed. Having heard of the famous saint Sai Baba in Shirdi, the boy's parents decided to travel there as a last resort. They pleaded with Sai Baba, who, as the embodiment of compassion, reassured them, gave them Udi to apply to the wound, and blessed the boy, leading to the start of his recovery.
