According to Chapter 23, why does the soul experience suffering, and what is the prescribed remedy for it?

📖 Chapter 23

Chapter 23 explains that the soul is, in its true reality, Sacchidananda (Existence-Consciousness-Bliss) and beyond the three gunas. However, it becomes deluded by Maya, causing it to forget its true nature and mistakenly identify with the body. This leads to pride and the false notion of being the 'doer' and 'enjoyer,' which in turn results in a succession of calamities and distress. As a solution, Chapter 23 states unequivocally that loving devotion (Bhakti Yoga) at the feet of the Guru is the only way to calm these calamities. Furthermore, it is mentioned that the incarnations of saints occur on earth out of benevolence, and hearing their stories with faith helps a devotee attain happiness, contentment, and peace.
