According to Chapter 23, what is the cause of human suffering and what is the prescribed remedy?

📖 Chapter 23

Chapter 23 of the Sai Satcharitra explains that the root cause of human suffering is delusion caused by Maya. The soul, which is in reality pure Existence-Consciousness-Bliss (Sacchidananda), forgets its true nature. It mistakenly identifies with the body and develops pride, thinking "I am the doer, I am the enjoyer." According to the teachings in this chapter, this delusion leads to a succession of calamities and distress. The text clearly states that the only way to calm these calamities and escape this cycle of suffering is through loving devotion (Bhakti Yoga) at the feet of the Guru. The Guru, like Sai Baba, can then color the devotee in His own divine hue, leading them out of their distress.
