According to Chapter 17, why do many people choose the path of Preya even if Shreya is the superior choice for one's true self-interest?

📖 Chapter 17

As detailed in Chapter 17, although the choice between Shreya (the Good) and Preya (the Pleasant) is within a person's control, making the right decision is difficult. The text explains that dull-witted individuals are often conquered by Preya because they are caught in the cycle of maintaining their body, children, wealth, and status. As long as there is an obsession with worldly objects and the senses crave them, Preya remains sweet and appealing. Therefore, a person who lacks discrimination and detachment is incapable of making the distinction and embraces the path of ignorance, even when both options are presented.
