According to Chapter 11, what powers did Sai Baba possess, and how did he guide his devotees from attachment to the physical form towards understanding the formless?

📖 Chapter 11

Chapter 11 of Sai Satcharitra highlights Sai Baba's immense greatness and authority over the five elements of nature, stating that even celestial beings like Indra, Agni, and Varuna obeyed his commands. While Baba was a manifest (Saguna) Guru to whom devotees could offer worship, he also employed various methods to guide them toward realizing the formless (Nirguna). As described in this chapter, Baba would use 'countless means' according to a devotee's eligibility. These included sending them to other countries, confining them to solitude in Shirdi, locking them in the Wada, or assigning them the task of reading scriptures. The purpose of these practices, which could last for years, was to cultivate a deep longing for the eternal and help the devotee understand that the physical body is perishable, while the unmanifest essence is everlasting.
